Resin Mold Shrink Rate
Molding shrinkage refers to the percentage reduction in room temperature dimensions of a plastic part after being released from its mold and allowed to cool to room temperature, when compared with its initial uncooled dimensions. Shrinkage occurs both due to thermal expansion/contraction within resin itself as well as various molding factors; hence its rate after molding should be known as molding shrinkage – this term is popularly employed within polymer science.
